SWR Pipe Price in India: What Decides the Rate and How to Compare Drainage Quotes

Ask three suppliers for the price of SWR pipe and you will often get three answers that cannot be compared. One quotes a rate per metre for 110mm pipe, another a rate per piece, and a third a rate per kilogram. One includes rubber rings and the next does not. One is for pipe with the right wall thickness for soil and waste lines and another is for a lighter pipe sold under the same name.

For a builder, plumber or homeowner planning drainage, that is a real problem, because drainage pipe is buried or concealed and almost impossible to fix cheaply once the building is finished. This guide explains what decides SWR pipe price in India, how SWR quotations are written, how to put them on the same basis, and how to get a clear quotation from Trity Pipes.

We do not print fixed rates here, because resin cost, freight and demand move from month to month, and a number published today may be wrong by the time you read it.

What SWR pipes are and why price differs

SWR stands for Soil, Waste and Rainwater. These uPVC pipes carry drainage by gravity from bathrooms, kitchens, terraces and roofs to the sewer or soak pit. They are not pressure pipes. Trity's SWR pipes comply with IS 13592 (Parts 1 and 2), the Indian Standard for unplasticized PVC pipes for non-pressure applications, and our manufacturing is ISO 9001:2015 certified.

Because the pipes are made in many diameters, in two pipe types and with two joint systems, the price of one metre of SWR pipe depends on which version you are buying. Comparing prices without knowing the version is how buyers end up with the wrong pipe at the right price.

The main factors that decide SWR pipe price

Pipe diameter

Trity SWR pipes are available from 40mm up to 315mm. Smaller sizes such as 75mm, 90mm and 110mm are common in homes and apartments, and larger sizes such as 160mm and 200mm are used in commercial and industrial drainage. Price rises with diameter because larger pipes use much more compound per metre.

Pipe type: Type A or Type B

Ringfit SWR pipes come in two types. Type A is used for ventilation and rainwater, and Type B for soil and waste discharge. They differ in wall thickness and intended use, so a Type A and a Type B pipe of the same diameter do not cost the same and are not interchangeable in every application. Always check which type a quote is for.

Joint system: Ringfit or Selfit

  • Ringfit pipes and fittings use a rubber ring seated in a groove. They are quick to install and can be taken apart for changes, but the ring is an added component and part of the cost.
  • Selfit pipes use a self-socket joined with solvent cement to form a permanent bond. They are strong and suit installations that will not be changed, and they need solvent cement as a consumable.

Both systems work well. The right choice depends on the project, and so does the cost of the complete system. Our guide on SWR installation explains how each is installed.

Fittings

An SWR drainage system is full of fittings: bends, tees, junctions, reducers, couplers, traps and access fittings. In a typical building they can account for a large share of the material cost, and a quote for pipe alone understates the real cost. Trity makes matching SWR fittings, and our fittings are made to the relevant Indian standards.

Wall thickness and raw material

A thicker wall and a better compound cost more. Virgin uPVC compound gives consistent strength and impact resistance along the pipe, while recycled or blended material can leave weak spots. Trity makes SWR pipes from high-grade raw materials with quality checks at each stage of production.

UV stabilisation

Pipes used on terraces and facades, such as rainwater downpipes, are exposed to sun. Our product page describes our SWR pipes as UV stabilised for outdoor exposure, and stabilisation is part of what the compound costs. If your run is exposed, confirm UV stabilisation with the supplier.

Rubber rings and solvent cement

Ringfit systems need rings, and Selfit systems need solvent cement. Some quotes include them and some list them separately.

Certification and testing

Pipes made to IS 13592 by a manufacturer with a valid BIS licence and ISO 9001:2015 carry testing and compliance costs that uncertified pipe avoids. See our certifications page for Trity's credentials.

Order quantity

Larger and phased orders earn better rates. Our guide on buying in bulk explains how order size and phasing affect rates, and the same principles apply to SWR.

Freight and location

SWR pipes are large in diameter and bulky for their weight, so freight is a real part of the landed cost, and distance matters. Buying from a manufacturer in your region helps. Trity ships from our Delhi NCR facility to 20-plus states, and delivery time is confirmed with each quotation.

GST

Plastic pipes and fittings fall under HSN 3917 and attract 18 percent GST. Check whether a rate includes it.

Why SWR can cost less over the life of a building

SWR pipe often looks competitive against older materials on first cost, and its advantage grows over time. Cast iron and galvanised pipes rust and need repair, and concrete pipes crack as ground settles. uPVC does not rust, has a smooth bore that resists blockage, is light to handle and quick to install, and our product page gives a service life of 40 to 50 years. When you compare drainage options, look at installed cost and life of the system, not just the price per metre.

Why the lowest SWR quote is often not the cheapest

A low rate can be explained in several ways.

  • A lighter pipe than the type your drainage needs, such as Type A used where Type B is required
  • Thin walls or blended compound that crack or deform
  • Missing rings or solvent cement, added later
  • Fittings not included, or fittings of a different standard
  • Freight and tax added after the quote
  • No certification, or an ISI mark that cannot be verified

A drainage leak inside a wall or under a floor means breaking tiles and masonry. The saving on pipe is small next to that cost. Our guide on SWR pipes vs PVC pipes explains why drainage and pressure pipes must never be swapped.

How to compare SWR quotations on the same basis

  1. Check the product. Diameter, Type A or Type B, joint system and standard (IS 13592) must match on every line.
  2. Check the unit. Convert per-piece and per-kilogram rates to per metre. Note the length of each piece.
  3. Check the inclusions. Are rings, solvent cement, GST and freight included?
  4. Compare the full set. Include the fittings you need, not just pipe.
  5. Check terms. Validity, payment terms and delivery period.
  6. Check documents. BIS licence, ISO certificate and test reports.

Estimating the cost of a drainage job

You can build a rough estimate yourself.

  • List each drainage line from the plan: soil stack, waste branches, floor traps and rainwater downpipes
  • Measure the length of each, adding vertical runs
  • Group by diameter and type
  • Count the fittings: a bend at each direction change, a tee or junction at each branch, a trap at each fixture, and reducers where sizes change
  • Add rings or solvent cement
  • Add a margin for cuts and site changes
  • Add labour and GST

Our guide on SWR pipe sizing for multi-storey buildings explains how to choose diameters and venting for larger buildings, which affects both cost and performance.

What a Trity Pipes SWR quotation includes

Trity Pipes manufactures SWR pipes and fittings in Ringfit and Selfit systems, from 40mm to 315mm, to IS 13592. When you send us your requirement, our team prepares a quotation that states the diameter, pipe type, joint system, quantities, rate, what is included, the delivery basis and the validity, so that you can compare it with other offers. We offer matching fittings, so your whole drainage system can come from one manufacturer, and we can share certification documents with the quotation. You can see the range on the SWR pipes and fittings page.

Builders and contractors can ask about bulk and phased supply for multi-unit projects, and plumbing dealers can ask about stocking the range. If your project also needs hot and cold water lines, we make CPVC pipes and fittings and uPVC pressure pipes, so you can quote the full plumbing system from one place.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the price of SWR pipe per metre in India?

It varies with diameter, pipe type, joint system, brand and the date of the quotation, so a single figure would mislead. The reliable way to find the current rate is to request a written quotation for your diameters and quantities.

What is the difference between Type A and Type B SWR pipe?

Type A is used for ventilation and rainwater lines, and Type B is used for soil and waste discharge. They differ in wall thickness and application, so check the type on every quote.

Is Ringfit or Selfit SWR pipe cheaper?

It depends on the project. Ringfit uses rubber rings and allows later changes, while Selfit uses solvent cement for a permanent bond. Compare the cost of the full system, including rings or cement and fittings, not only the pipe rate.

Does the SWR pipe rate include fittings and GST?

Usually not. Fittings are normally quoted separately, and GST at 18 percent under HSN 3917 may or may not be included. Ask the supplier to state it clearly.

Can I get the Trity Pipes SWR price list?

Yes. Contact our team with your diameters, pipe type, joint system and approximate quantities, and we will share a quotation along with the terms and documents you need.

Do bulk orders get a better SWR rate?

Larger and phased orders generally earn better rates. Share your total quantity and schedule with our team, and we will discuss a quotation and a delivery plan for your project.
